About the Institute

The Aichi University of the Arts Institute for Conservation of Cultural Property was established in 2014 to support local cultural development by preserving and reproducing cultural assets while educating people in related fields. The Institute conducts research and inquiries into the preservation of cultural assets while also carrying out reproduction, preservation, and restoration work.

The Institute takes advantage of the university's many areas of specialization (Japanese-style painting, Oil painting, and Sculpture, as well as art history and theory) to drive a variety of projects. It also hosts conservation events, including lectures on specialized techniques and symposia designed to build cultural asset conservation networks across Central Japan. The Institute then takes the results of its diverse research activities and uses them to support the local community in various ways.
