Design - Outline

Program Description

Design brings creative abundance to our daily lives. It provides beauty and comfort for things, places, spaces, and information in response to the times and social needs.

This program covers four areas of design: visual communication design, product design, environment design, and media design. The curriculum includes the study of design methodology and theory. It revolves around building design concepts that could correspond to people's diverse life styles and advanced technologies, and acquiring practical skills to realize the concepts. Aimed at cultivating comprehensive abilities, the program is intended to teach the basic concepts and practical skills of design. In addition, lectures by experts in various areas and field trips to their workspaces will allow students to further their professional knowledge and skills.

In recent years, the importance of design has grown with the movement from industrial-based to information- and recycling-based societies. In response to the movement, the program attempts to investigate, from an aesthetic viewpoint, methods and techniques in various fields of design that could contribute to the creation of a new culture.
