Faculties and Graduate School

Outline
The University consists of a Faculty of Art, a Faculty of Music and a Graduate School.
The Faculty of Art houses two departments: the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Design and Crafts. The former comprises four divisions: Japanese Painting, Oil Painting, Sculpture, and Art History, Art Theory and Conservation; the latter comprises two divisions: Design and Ceramics. The Faculty of Music has a department, the Department of Music, which consists of three divisions: Composition, Voice, and Instrumental Music.
The Graduate School consists of the Graduate School of Fine Arts and the Graduate School of Music, each comprising one division. In April 2009, the Doctor Course was established in addition to the existing Master Course.
General Admission Policy of the University
With the objective of developing into a truly unique and fascinating university, as well as a cultural base open to the world, Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music upholds the following three principles:
The University aims to:
- develop outstanding human resources engaged in art practice, research, education and other fields related to art and culture, through its integrated system of education and research from undergraduate to postgraduate school;
- develop itself into an international center for creation of culture and art, by offering advanced artistic education with a broader perspective; and
- contribute to the development of local culture and art, in collaboration with the local community and by making an effective use of its artistic resources in various fields such as education, industry and livelihood culture.
To put these principles into practice, the University needs individuals who are qualified in their own fields of study and meet the following requirements:
- they have a strong will and sensibility to create and study art as well as basic practical skills; and
- they are motivated to lead the world of art, music, and artistic education in the future; and
– they can see things from a broad perspective, respect diverse values, and study actively and voluntarily.
