1. Admission by General Entrance Examination (ippan nyushi)

Purpose

Practical skills, academic ability and disposition relevant to each discipline are essential for developing talent that meets the principles and purpose of this university. Practical skills are particularly vital, and for this reason selection by the General Entrance Examination is based on a comprehensive appraisal of the results of a practical exam and an exam assessing academic ability, as well as a chosa-sho (report by the candidate's high school).

2. Special Admission by Self-Recommendation (jiko suisen tokubetsu nyushi)

Purpose

This admission category was created as an alternative to the conventional general entrance exam in order to admit outstanding and highly-motivated candidates with wide-ranging potential to the increasingly diversified disciplines of sculpture and design.

Selection Method

Candidates are not required to take the National Center Test for University Admissions. The first screening will be based on the submitted chosa-sho, letter of self-recommendation, and other self-presentation materials. Short-listed candidates will proceed to the second screening, which will be based on an interview and essay.

3. Special Admission of Candidates with Work Experience (shakaijin tokubetsu nyushi)

Purpose

This admission category was created to contribute to the promotion of lifelong art education by opening the university to members of the public with work experience who have a strong motivation to study Japanese painting, oil painting, sculpture, art history, art theory and conservation, design or ceramics. Students are expected to leverage the broad perspectives they have gained through their professional experiences to actively engage in studio work and research, refine their abilities, and resume active careers in their chosen fields.

Selection Method

Candidates are not required to take the National Center Test for University Admissions. Selection will be based on a comprehensive appraisal of submitted self-recommendation materials, an essay, the outcome of a practical exam, and an interview.

4. Special Admission by Recommendation (suisen tokubetsu nyushi)

Purpose

This admission category was created to recruit outstanding and highly-motivated candidates who expressly desire to study at this university.

Selection Method

Candidates are not required to take the National Center Test for University Admissions. The first screening will be based on a letter of recommendation from the head of the last school attended by the candidate, chosa-sho, and a report on the candidate's musical activities. Short-listed candidates will proceed to the second screening, which will comprise an audition and a test of basic musical ability.
