April 1, 1966
  • Aichi University of the Arts and Music is founded.
  • The Painting, Sculpture, and Design programs are established in the Department of Fine Arts at Faculty of Art.
  • The Composition, Voice, and Instrumental Music (Piano, Strings) programs are established in the Department of Music at Faculty of Music.
  • Naoteru Ueno assumes office as the first president.
April 1, 1970
  • The Graduate School of Fine Arts, consisting of the Painting, Sculpture, and Design programs, is established.
  • The Graduate School of Music, consisting of the Composition, Voice, and Instrumental Music (Piano, Strings) programs, is established.
June 4, 1972
  • Shinichiro Kozuka assumes office as the second president.
September 6, 1977
  • Masaaki Oshita becomes acting president upon the death of Shinichiro Kozuka.
December 1, 1977
  • Masuto Toyooka assumes office as the third president.
December 1, 1983
  • Takashi Kono assumes office as the fourth president.
October 15, 1985
  • Student exchange agreement between Aichi University of the Arts and Nanjing University of the Arts is signed.
April 1, 1989
  • The Faculty of Art is expanded to include the Department of Design and Craft. The Design program is transferred from the Department of Fine Arts to the Department of Design and Craft. The Ceramics program is established in the Department of Design and Craft.
  • The Painting program in the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art is reorganized into the Japanese Painting and Oil Painting programs.
  • The Instrumental Music (Winds and Percussion) program is introduced in the Department of Music, Faculty of Music.
September 12, 1989
  • Museum of Horyuji Mural Reproductions opens.
December 1, 1989
  • Yoshikado Tatehata assumes office as the fifth president.
April 1, 1993
  • In the Graduate School of Fine Arts, the Painting program is subdivided into the Japanese Painting and Oil Painting programs, and the Ceramics program is introduced.
April 1, 1994
  • The Composition (Musicology) program is established in the Department of Music at Faculty of Music.
  • The Composition (Musicology) and Instrumental Music (Winds and Percussion) programs are established in the Graduate School of Music.
December 1, 1995
  • Makoto Kawakami assumes office as the sixth president.
April 1, 2001
  • The Art History, Art Theory, and Conservation program is established in the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Art.
  • Shozo Shimada assumes office as the seventh president.
April 1, 2007
  • The right to administer Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music is transferred from Aichi prefecture to the Aichi Public University Corporation.
  • The five programs of the Graduate School of Fine Arts are combined into the Fine Arts program. The three programs of the Graduate School of Music are combined into the Music program.
  • Teruo Isomi assumes office as the eighth president.
April 1, 2009
  • Doctoral programs are established in the Fine Arts program at Graduate School of Fine Arts and the Music program at Graduate School of Music.
April 1, 2013
  • Koji Matsumura assumes office as the nineth president.
